In 2014, the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine voted Laguna Beach one of the “Top 25 Towns in America to Spend the Holidays.” It’s easy to see why. Even though there’s little chance for a white Christmas, there are plenty of events to get you in the holiday spirit. Here’s a look at some of our favorites.

Dine in Style on Thanksgiving

There’s no need to slave away in your kitchen on Thanksgiving Day, cooking up a feast for the family. You’ll find plenty of restaurants in town serving up traditional holiday dishes with very festive atmospheres. If you want to be able to go back for seconds (or thirds), then try one of the buffets in town. You'll find them at Driftwood Kitchen, Harvest Restaurant at The Ranch, or Montage Laguna Beach’s Grand Ballroom. Other spots around town will feature prix fixe Thanksgiving menus. Check out Selanne Steak Tavern, Splashes and Three Seventy Common.

Shop for Special Gifts

2017 marks the 27th anniversary of the Sawdust Art & Craft Festival's Annual Winter Fantasy. Beginning on Saturday, November 18, and running weekends through Sunday, December 17, you can score one-of-a-kind gifts at this fun event. 175 artists will be on hand selling their wares and demonstrating their crafts. You can also enjoy live entertainment, Dickens carolers, delicious food and drink, Christmas trees and even Santa Claus himself. It’s a Laguna Beach tradition that is fun for the whole family.

Celebrate With Your Neighbors

Touted as the “best block party of the year,” Hospitality Night in Laguna Beach is an event not to be missed. On the first Friday of December, the City of Laguna Beach and the Chamber of Commerce throw a party and everyone is invited! You can watch Santa light the old pepper tree in front of City Hall and sing carols with friends and neighbors.

Have a Holiday Hotel Experience

The hotels in Laguna Beach go all out during the holidays. If you’re planning a trip to town to check out our luxury homes for sale, be sure to book yourself a holiday hotel experience. The Montage Laguna Beach will be hosting a nightly Hanukkah menorah lighting from December 12 – December 20. They also have special programming through the holidays for children that includes arts and crafts, meals and holiday films.

Enjoy Holiday Entertainment

The Laguna Playhouse is your go-to place for the best in holiday entertainment. This winter they’ll be offering several holiday-themed productions. Laugh at Sister’s Christmas Catechism, take the kids on an adventure with Aladdin and His Winter Wish, or enjoy a night out with friends watching The Skivvies: Sleigh My Name. You can also kick off the New Year with Rita Rudner, who will be performing her show Laugh, Drink and Leave. There is something for everyone!

Visit Santa

Finally, don’t forget to visit Santa so you can tell him what you want for Christmas. You’ll find him just outside of Tuvalu, eager to meet you from 1-4 p.m. daily in December.
