Laguna Beach has so many terrific opportunities for kids of all ages to explore, learn, and have a great time. Many of these experiences are even perfect for the whole family! Dana Wharf Kids Club
Touted as the “Coolest Club of the Sea”, the Dana Wharf Kids Club offers great opportunities for kids and their families to have fun at sea. The $39 annual membership in the Kids Club has some fantastic perks, including:
- Free ½ day fishing trip for one child and one adult
- Free 2 hour whale watching trip
- Kids Club tshirt or hat
- Special discounts on merchandise and excursions
- Kids Club members can also celebrate their birthdays on a fishing trip with up to 9 friends!
There are also great kids activities at Dana Wharf that don’t require membership. Every Sunday they hold a free fishing clinic from noon to 12:30pm where kids can learn fishing techniques from experts and win fun raffle prizes. After the clinic, kids get a free fishing trip from 12:45 to 5:15pm with a paying adult. Kids tournaments and after-school or summer camps are also available. Kids Art Studio
Do you know a creative kid who wants to learn more about making art and have opportunities to learn new skills? Then the Kids Art Studio at the Laguna Art Museum is the place for them! The museum has started this new program which takes place on the third Sunday of every month. Kids can drop in between 2pm and 4pm to create a piece of art from start to finish, inspired by one of the exhibitions featured in the museum that month. These projects are perfect for kids of all ages.
The Kids Art Studio is free for members, and free for non-members with paid admission to the museum ($5 and $7). Youth Theatre at the Laguna Playhouse
The critically-acclaimed Laguna Playhouse offers a Youth Theatre season that performs plays specifically for elementary and middle school aged children. In addition, the Theatre for a New Generation offers up productions just for high school students and tweens that focus on topics such as bullying and teen issues. Not only are these great opportunities for kids to experience live professional theatre that is suited to their age, but kids in the community are encouraged to audition and actually play roles!
