In case it isn’t obvious, the holiday season has arrived! No doubt you’ve seen Laguna Beach businesses getting into the spirit of things. Perhaps you’ve even begun your own holiday preparations, whether it’s planning your Thanksgiving feast or stocking up on holiday gifts.
But maybe you’re beginning to feel that you’d like to find other ways to experience the spirit of what these upcoming holidays are really about – connecting with other people and giving back to the community. Are you looking for opportunities to donate or volunteer in the coming months? If so, here is a sampling of worthy causes in the Laguna Beach community.
Assistance League of Laguna Beach
The Assistance League of Laguna Beach has been identifying, developing and funding philanthropic ventures in the local community since it began in 1952. Comprised of more than 160 women, the group sponsors a number of programs targeted towards children, families and senior citizens. You can help them by becoming a member or donating to the cause. Even better, simply shop at or donate to their thrift shop, located at 526 Glenneyre Street.
Laguna Beach Community Clinic
Located at 362 Third Street, the Laguna Beach Community Clinic was established to provide compassionate medical care to low-income residents of South Orange County. The clinic’s mission is to provide excellent care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. They currently use public support funds to administer care on a sliding fee scale. The clinic accepts monetary donations for their core operations and endowment. They also accept donated vehicles and stock.
Pacific Marine Mammal Center
The Pacific Marine Mammal Center’s ongoing mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release marine mammals while also providing opportunities for education and collaboration. Their center is open to the public every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is free. There are many ways to support the wonderful and important work that they do, from becoming a member or sponsor to donating items from their wish list. Or simply drop by to check out what they do and leave a donation for their efforts.
World Heritage International Student Exchange Programs
For a truly unique and life-changing experience, check out the World Heritage International Student Exchange Programs. The group has been located right here in Laguna Beach since 1980. The program dedicates itself to fostering cultural enrichment and understanding through youth exchange programs. Why not open your home to give a young person from another culture the opportunity of a lifetime?
