Memorial Day is coming up this Monday, May 28th, and here are a few great ways to honor fallen heroes and make it a day of remembrance, if you live in Laguna Beach. U.S. District Judge David O. Carter, who calls Laguna Beach home and is also a veteran and member of American Legion Post 222 will be the keynote speaker at the 85th Memorial Day Ceremony. The event will take place at Monument Point in Heisler Park beginning with music at 10:30 a.m. and is co-hosted by Laguna Beach’s American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars

The Laguna Beach Exchange Club will host its annual $5 pancake and sausage fundraising breakfast earlier that morning, from 7 to 10:30 a.m., at Heisler Park as well. Local police and firefighters will serve as the cooks for the breakfast held in the picnic area, near the corner of Cliff and Myrtle Drives. Live entertainment from local community groups, including the Laguna Tots, and many photo opportunities can be had at the event, so do not forget your camera! To conclude the day's activities, the Laguna Beach Concert Band will begin playing a live patriotic concert medley at 12:30 p.m. near Main Beach, giving you plenty to do to kick off this year's Memorial Day.
