Have a woman living in your Laguna Beach home? If so, be sure to mention the upcoming Soroptimist International gathering! This international women’s organization of business and professional women is dedicated to helping women empower themselves to make positive changes in their own lives and the lives of their communities. On April 27th, Soroptimist International of Laguna Beach will host the year’s best mother/daughter event for the women who live in Laguna Beach, the Healthy Girl Festival at the Festival of Arts grounds in Laguna Beach at 10 a.m
The Festival features two screenings of the challenging documentary, Miss Representation. The film explores how women are underrepresented in positions of power and influence in America and exposes the mainstream media’s collusion. The first screening is at 10:30 a.m., and the second is at 1:30 p.m. A short discussion and question and answer session will follow each screening, featuring Caroline Heldman, associate professor of politics at Occidental College and a contributor to the film
Don’t miss the Expo that follows, either! Exhibitions will offer products and services to support a healthy, whole person. There will also be food trucks, a juice bar, and great performances. This great opportunity is available so close to your Laguna Beach home!
Tickets are $5 and include a screening of Miss Representation and entrance into all other events. They can be purchased on the day of the festival through Soroptimist of Laguna Beach members or online at the Soroptimist website.
