Mother’s Day is just around the corner, so now’s the time to start thinking about how you’d like to honor your mom and show her just how much she means to you. Aren’t sure where to go or what to do in Laguna Beach? Here are some of our ideas for treating Mom to a special day.

Treat Mom to Brunch

Mother’s Day Brunch is a classic for a reason – it’s a great time to sit down and linger over a delicious meal with your family. There are several places in Laguna Beach that are offering special Mother’s Day menus, so you can easily treat your mom to her favorite cuisine. Check each restaurant for menus and specials, and be sure to make a reservation, as these events are popular. Some of the great places to take Mom for a memorable meal include:

Have a Laugh

One of the secrets of staying young is to laugh, so why not treat Mom to a few chuckles on Mother’s Day? The Laguna Laughter Club meets every day of the year, including holidays, at the northernmost end of Main Beach for an hour of stretching, breathing and yes, laughing. On May 6 and 7, the Laguna Playhouse is offering Evenings of Improv featuring the Youth Theatre, where the actors take suggestions from the audience to enact wild and hilarious situations. On May 8 they’ll be presenting the comedy Sex and Education, an homage to educators everywhere.

Take a Hike

With a beautiful coastline and miles of trails, taking Mom on a hike in Laguna Beach is a sure bet for those whose mothers love outdoor pursuits. If a walk along the beach sounds perfect, try Crystal Cove State Park or Main Beach to take in the stunning views and enjoy the ocean breezes. Top of the World is another great hike where you can catch a beautiful sunset or pack a picnic lunch and just enjoy the view.

Browse World-Class Art

If your mom is an art lover (and who in Laguna Beach isn’t?), then why not spend the afternoon browsing the latest exhibits at the Laguna Art Museum? They are currently hosting a retrospective of the work of Helen Lundeberg, and admission is free for Laguna Beach residents through May 30. Afterwards, go for a stroll in the village and duck into some of the dozens of galleries that line the Coast Highway.

Honor Her Memory

For those who have lost their mothers, Mother’s Day can be a challenging time. But there are meaningful ways that you can honor her on that day. Make a donation to her favorite charity in her honor, visit one of her favorite places in Laguna Beach, or even send flowers to a local nursing home to brighten the day of someone who may not be able to spend it with her family.
