Do you love music? Then don’t miss the 9th Annual Fete de La Musique, scheduled to take place in downtown Laguna Beach on June 18. This fun festival dates back to 1976 in France, and is now celebrated throughout the world to welcome the summer solstice. Artists will perform from 1 – 4 p.m. at 35 different locations throughout the city, and the event is free.
While it’s not just a summer affair, the First Thursdays Art Walk is even more enjoyable when paired with warm, carefree nights. Held on the (you guessed it) first Thursday of every month from 6 – 9 p.m., the evening is a celebration of the art scene in Laguna Beach and is free to the public.
Laguna Beach is definitely the place to be in the summer if you love art, and the Laguna Art-A-Fair is one of the three big festivals that draws huge crowds. From June 24 to August 28, this juried art festival features 125 artists who create art as visitors leisurely stroll amongst the gardens on the festival grounds. Every medium is represented here, from jewelry and ceramics to mixed media and digital art.
Now in its 50th year, the Sawdust Art & Craft Festival features the wares of more than 200 Laguna Beach artists. The festival also showcases live entertainment and art demonstrations, and visitors can enjoy walking around the cool eucalyptus grove. The festival runs from June 24 to August 28.
Festival of Arts is known as California’s premier fine art show and has been offering a showcase for artists for more than 80 years. In addition to art displayed for sale, there are demonstrations, workshops, daily tours, live music, special events and on-site restaurants. The festival is open daily from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. from July 5 to August 31.
Part of the Festival of Arts, Pageant of the Masters is a 90-minute stage stow of living recreations of famous works. This world-renowned production is presented each night at 8:30 p.m. and features a professional orchestra, original score, live narration, and sophisticated sets and lighting.
Happening on the second Thursday of every month, Laguna Beach Live! at the Laguna Art Museum is an evening of art and music featuring talented musicians performing chamber music at 7 p.m. The concerts are free with museum admission.
In addition to the chamber music series at the museum, Laguna Beach Live! also hosts the Jazz Wednesdays Summer Series beginning on June 22 at the Rose Garden of Hotel Laguna. Concerts are presented every two weeks until August 31.
