Calling all art lovers!  Did you know that Laguna Beach is home to not one, not two, but THREE famous art festivals during the summer?  That’s right!  Artists from all over the region descend on Laguna Beach in the beautiful summer months for the Festival of the Arts, the Sawdust Art Festival, and Art-A-Fair.  There are so many opportunities every day for art-filled fun – what are you waiting for?  Here’s a peak at what each festival has to offer.

Art-A-Fair

Now in its 48th year, Art-A-Fair is one of Southern California’s most popular festivals.  This juried art show features the work of 125 nationally and internationally renowned artists as well as the work of many local artists.  Visitors to this inspiring event are invited to take a leisurely stroll among the artists as they actually create their pieces.  You can talk with them about their process or simply enjoy watching them work.  All art is available for purchase, and there is work to be had in every medium including oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics, drawings, photography, digital art, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, glass and wood.  Enjoy live entertainment on the weekends and tuck into a delicious meal at the onsite restaurant Tivoli Too!  Art-A-Fair runs from June 27-August 31, every day of the week.

Festival of the Arts

The acclaimed Festival of the Arts is one of the nation’s oldest and most respected art shows, even being named in the Top 10 of art shows in the nation by American Style Magazine.  The work of over 145 Orange County artists is on display in a variety of mediums including painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, handcrafted wood and furniture, ceramics, glass and more.  Guests of the festival can experience art workshops, daily art tours, demonstrations, live music, special events and more.  On site restaurants are available for dining, or bring a picnic!  As part of the festival, the live performance Pageant of the Masters will be performed, where classic works of art come to life during ninety minutes of “living pictures”.   The festival takes place from July 6 through August 30, from 10am to 11:30pm every day.

Sawdust Art Festival

The Sawdust Art Festival is a hyper-local event that showcases and celebrates work created only in Laguna Beach.  It has been voted the “Best Festival” by OC Weekly and has also been named one of the country’s Top 5 festivals by American Style Magazine.  Over 200 local artists have their work on display and visitors can enjoy live entertainment, artist demonstrations, art workshops, and on site dining.  More than 200,000 visit the festival each year, which takes place from June 27 to august 31 from 10am to 10pm every day.  This non-juried show was created to educate and support arts in the local community and draws a higher paid attendance than any other summer festival in Southern California.

With so many wonderful choices, there is no reason to leave art out of schedule this summer!  Head to one – or all – of these terrific Laguna Beach festivals and experience everything the local art community has to offer.
